What is difference between dry type transformer and oil immersed transformer?
The cooling mode of dry type transformer is air self cooling or forced air cooling, and the cooling mode is air duct cooling. It has the characteristics of safety, flame-retardant, fire-proof, pollution-free and can be directly installed in the load center. Maintenance free, easy installation and low comprehensive operation cost. It has good moisture-proof performance and can operate normally under 100% humidity. It can be put into operation without pre-drying after shutdown.
The cooling mode of oil immersed transformer is oil circulation cooling and oil channel heat dissipation, so each oil immersed transformer shall be attached with oil tank. It is characterized by good heat dissipation. But compared with the dry-type transformer, the oil immersed transformer is inflammable, not fireproof and needs frequent maintenance, which will cause certain pollution to the environment. Therefore, oil immersed transformers are rarely used in high density areas.
